Venue Details
The ‘Fabulous’ Fox Theatre St Louis first opened its doors to the public in 1929, and underwent a full restoration in 1982 which left us with the beautiful venue that remains there today.
The theatre was created as a platform for showcasing movies from the Fox Film Corporation, but, as might be expected of a venue in existence as long as The Fox Theatre St. Louis, has broadened its repertoire over the years. Live stage shows, live bands, solo musicians and other special events / guests have all featured on the Fox Theatre schedule in the past. Indeed, prior to making it into the big leagues, John Wayne appeared at the Fox Theatre St. Louis – in conjunction with the screening of one of his earlier movies. Acts including the Grateful Dead and Frank Zappa have also graced the St. Louis theatre's stage with their presence at one point or another.
The venue is an undeniable gem in the city’s history, and thanks to that wonderful restoration project in the early ‘80s, the ‘Fabulous’ Fox Theatre will continue as a showcase for the performing arts for many years to come.
