Raging in Europe since 1914, the “War to End all Wars,” threatened to draw America across the Atlantic Ocean and into a bloody and stalemated global conflict. This centennial exhibition explores the events that forced America’s entry into the “Great War” and the resulting preparations impacting Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, Missouri and the nation. Learn about Missouri’s own Gen. John J. Pershing who led the American Expeditionary Force and the thousands of “Doughboys” who brought the American fighting spirit to the battlefield. “Over Here” will be followed by “Over There” in 2018 which will highlight the actions of St. Louisans, Missourians, and Americans during World War I in Europe and the war’s lasting impacts.
