Because You Don't Know What You Don't Know.   Wouldn't it be nice to have some insight and be prepared if you experience these things?  Or be proactive to prevent them? A Spring Series was held on the same concept of "You Don't Know What You Don't Know"; however, this is NOT a repeat (note change in title)!!  The Fall Series will have fresh topics and many new presenters, plus a few returning ones. A 3-part Seminar Series has been organized by Teresa Pedigo, with AdviCoach, and a team of experts in a variety of professions to share some insight on areas you may not have encountered yet, previous issues where you weren't sure how to handle, or what the best practice would be in the situation.  A total of 13 experts (5 at each session) have been brought together to provide you with knowledge that you may not have known about when you walked in the door, but will when you walk out the door. Pedigo is a graduate of Millikin University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.   She spent 23 years in the financial services industry as a Bank Examiner with the OCC; Director of Compliance for three banks, a mortgage company and an auto leasing company; and as a Director of Financial Services in a large consulting firm. She received two merit awards at the OCC; earned three certifications while working for the consulting firm; and was named Executive of the Year in Banking Compliance in 2010. Teresa also served as a lead instructor for the Independent Community Bankers Association (ICBA), where bankers attend to obtain a Certified Community Bank Compliance Officer’s (CCBCO) certification.  Near the end of 2014, she decided to leave corporate and pursue the passion of becoming an entrepreneur by purchasing an AdviCoach Franchise.  Teresa works with Business Owners/Entrepreneurs to help them set goals, create action plans to reach those goals, and provides accountability to keep the owner on track to meet their goals.  In 2016, she received the Proactive Marketing Trendsetter of the Year Award from AdviCoach, along with being the Business Coach for the 2016 AdviCoach Client of the Year. Teresa was raised as a farmer’s daughter in Central Illinois, where the dirt is black. This is where her entrepreneurial roots first started to grow. Like most farm kids, her first job (besides babysitting) was walking beans—soybeans, not green beans. It taught her the importance of hard work to get what you want, along with the importance of managing wages earned.  In addition, Teresa learned the criticality of attention to detail, pride, and integrity, which should be the heart of any business.  At the age of 16, she began working for farmer as an Office Manager for his grain, hog, trucking, and corn dryer supply/repair operations. This included doing payroll (by hand) and completing quarterly sales tax reports, while dispatching trucks and selling dryer parts.  Teresa remains incredibly grateful to both her father and this farmer for what she learned early in life which prepared her for her future business career. Teresa moved to Fairview Heights in 1991.  She has been active in fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis, and serves as a Board Member for Call For Help, Inc. She is also a member of the Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce and Belleville BNI.  Besides business, her passions include shoes, wine, fitness and her Yorkie, Paisley. Dr. Kathleen Roche, FEATURED KEY NOTE SPEAKER, owns and operates a successful chiropractic franchise, HealthSource, America’s Chiropractor. She treats her patients like family and respects their healthcare choices. She really listens to the patients. In addition to this, she lectures and enriches her community through teaching success tips and skills for goal achievement and life fulfillment.   Dr. Roche attributes the systems used in the franchise model which allowed her to grow exponentially in terms of treatment and education. From 1992 until the company was sold in 2010, Terry grew the business from $750,000 in sales to over $42,000,000 including the acquisition of 11 different companies. After the successful sale of his company, Terry spent three and a half years with Regions Bank as a Vice President of Commercial Banking because his wife told him he had to have a job. In July of 2014, Terry teamed up with Dave Kunkel and launched Innovative Business Advisors. Joe Varda is the Owner of Joes’s Technology.  Ever since Vocational training in High School, I’ve been interested in electronics.  From HS I joined the US Navy and worked on the Ships Inertial Navigation systems (SINS).  I started my civilian career with NCR in 1980.  There I learned to troubleshoot all types of business computer systems including: Point-of-Sale, Hospitality, Banking (proof equipment, ATMs, teller terminals),as well as early Personal Computers.  In 1990 I started with a company as a technical Instructor and trained field service technicians.  In the late 90s, I became a project manager involved in the installation of network infrastructure for companies such as Best Buy and Nordstrom. In 2012, I, along with 100 of my colleagues, found ourselves the victims of outsourcing.  I decided at that point to start my own computer repair business.  Here I am 5 years later and still going strong, thanks in large part to a wonderful business coach, Teresa Pedigo. Dawn Mushill, FEATURED KEY NOTE SPEAKER, has been a public speaker ever since people have listened. She started speaking in front of people in 1994, when she was student teaching. She loved seeing the light bulbs go off in the crowd as she spoke, so she started providing customer service training. She was inspired to become a public speaker because she felt she could assist companies in setting up expectations and providing solid training on what level of customer service the company would like to achieve. Working in management for 20 years and also as an adjunct professor at Southwestern Illinois College for 16 years, Dawn gives seminars about customer service and attitude from a new, fresh perspective that her audiences enjoy and understand. Kevin Benson is a lifelong resident of St. Clair & Madison Counties. He studied Business Marketing at the University of Southern Illinois. Following college, Kevin worked in the Marketing and Advertising industry, promoting relationships between Home Builders and Building Material Dealers. For the past nine years Kevin has worked as an insurance producer at Yaekel & Associates in Belleville, IL.  His focus is on the Property and Casualty segment. Kevin strives to bring comprehensive coverage to a vast number of industries, utilizing a team of dedicated agents and committed underwriters. Kevin and his wife, Susie, have been married for 17 years and are currently enjoying raising three young boys in Maryville, IL. Jerry Harrington – is the Vice President of Residential Sales for Beloman in Belleville, IL.  He has been a team member of The Beloman Company for almost 15 years and has been in the HVAC industry for over 35 years. As a manager directly responsible for day to day activities and sales goals, Jerry understands that your internal employees are actually your best clients. Every day it is our job to train, lead and motivate our team members to help them achieve their personal and career goals. Adams, publisher of Marketplace Magazine and CEO of Adams Publications, has 30 years of experience as a journalist, editor and publisher. Having a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and Masters of Science in mass communications, her experience includes news and feature reporting at newspapers/magazines in Waco, Texas and Austin; direct mail advertising copywriting at Famous-Barr in St. Louis; editor of special advertising sections at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch; and currently as publisher of Marketplace Magazine. Going from the creative to the business side of publishing has given her insight as a publisher and inherently as a salesperson. Adams also purchases advertising for a non-profit organization thus providing a perspective from the advertiser's view regarding budgets and the need for exposure. She is a member of Belleville BNI, St. Clair County East Rotary, the HBA of SWIL, Belleville Chamber of Commerce and the Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce. Jacob R.
